Martin County realty firm gets new identity
By Nadia Vanderhoof
Friday, November 14, 2008
PALM CITY — Vincent Laviano has his hands full these days.
Not only is Laviano president of the Realtor Association of Martin County, he in the middle of rebranding and changing the affiliation of his 15-year-old real estate firm, which boasts 70 agents.
"In this climate, I knew that we needed something fresh, something new," Laviano said. "We wanted to give the agents something strong to feel about, so they could hit the ground running."
Laviano's firm, Realty Executives Treasure Coast, is becoming Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Laviano & Associates. The firm has locations in Stuart, Palm City and Port St. Lucie.
Realogy Corp., parent company of Century 21 and Coldwell Banker and others, is licensing the name for the franchise from Better Homes and Gardens publisher Meredith Corp.
Laviano's firm is the first Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate franchise in Florida, he said.
"We decided that it was time for a change," Laviano said. "The power of this brand is phenomenal and the consumer's affinity to the brand is remarkable. It's a name that people know."
Laviano said all his agents were given new business cards on Wednesday. The Palm City office sign already has changed and within the next week, the other locations will reflect the firm's name change as well.
"We'll be changing the yard signs soon and today we'll begin changing our 400 to 500 listings," Laviano said.
Laviano acknowledged that the tri-county area was suffering from a decline in demand and higher inventory levels because of more homes on the market.
"Right now, I think we're at the bottom of pricing," Laviano said. "I think we'll see a recovery in 2009, but it will be a lengthy recovery and it's hard to gauge whether or not it (the recovery) will take place in the last quarter or not."
The firm's property listings is accessible through www.bhgrealestate.com.
